CHAPTER 6
The
Nephilim
This
chapter covers what leads up to the flood during Noah's time, and what
you will learn in it will undoubtedly fly in the face of some things
that you have heard before. Any references to the ancient books
of Enoch
or Jubilees in
this chapter, and in fact throughout all these lessons, are
excerpted from The
Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, Vol. 1 & 2, (Doubleday), edited by
James H. Charlesworth.
It is important to remember, and never forget, that the Bible was
written by Adamic people, for Adamic people, and to Adamic
people. That's right, and this chapter is no exception because it
is concerning Adamic people and no one else. It does not apply to
any other people living on the Earth, nor is it about the entire
planet. The flood of Noah's time was a local event affecting only
those living in a limited area. It likely was the Tarim Basin in
central Asia, an area about the size of the southeastern United States
surrounded by mountains and having somewhat the shape of a bowl.
Using
the map below you can see the Tarim Basin in the upper right-hand
quadrant (40N x 85E). It is the yellowish-green somewhat oval
shaped area in the Himalayas
north of the Indian subcontinent. The map is a little difficult
at first because it is a topographical image, so take your time to get
your bearings. You can see the boot form of Italy in the
upper left hand quadrant (40N x 15E), and the Indian subcontinent in
the center of
the right side (20N x 80E). I chose this topographical map
because it clearly shows the
basin. Notice the four rivers all coming to a point within the
basin. Today, that basin is part of the Xinjiang Uygur region of
China. Ancient oriental legends locate the Garden of Eden in the
Pamir Mountains on the western side of the basin within modern
Tajikistan.
The map can also be found at http://ourfathersword.org/scan.jpg.
For more on this Tarim Basin thing, I strongly recommend the book
entitled Tracing
Our Ancestors by Frederick Haberman, published by Artisan
Publishers in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
It is important that you understand these things, so try to lay aside
any quaint and fanciful stories about
Noah and his Ark that you have heard in Sunday School.
Now, having said all that, let's
get into it and see what really happened to Noah and those people, and
why.
Gen.
6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face
of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
The
word men
here should be translated Adam. It is translated
from the Hebrew words ha Adam, or the Adam with
the
article ha,
and when you see it written that way it is referring to the specific
person
called Adam.
So, with that in mind you can see that men here is
actually talking about the offspring of Adam, and more than that, the
verse is also specifically speaking of
females.
6:2 That the sons
of God saw the daughters of men that they were
fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
The sons of God
mentioned here are not men, or Adamites. They are heavenly
creatures, probably angels, and look at what they are doing. They
are violating a basic rule of God, and of nature in general. They
are crossbreeding, and that indicates that they have rebelled, and have
fallen away from the ways of God.
They have
gone their own way by
despising and leaving their natural estate.
They are now fallen
angels.
Jude talks about them.
Jude
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under
darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
So
does the venerable Enoch.
1
Enoch 6:1 In those days, when the children of man had multiplied,
it happened that there were born unto them handsome and beautiful
daughters.
1
Enoch 6:2 And the angels, the children of heaven, saw them and
desired them; and they said to one another, "Come, let us choose wives
for ourselves from among the daughters of man and beget us children."
Job also talks about those called the sons of God.
Job
1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present
themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to
present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to
present himself before the LORD.
Job 38:4
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if
thou hast understanding.
Job 38:5
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath
stretched the line upon it?
Job 38:6
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner
stone thereof;
Job 38:7
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted
for joy?
It is evident that within the context of these verses that
the phrase "sons
of God" is referring to heavenly beings, probably
angels, and not to mortal men.
The ancient book of Jubilees also
speaks of what happened during that time.
Jubilees 4:21 And
he [Enoch]
was therefore with the angels of God six jubilees of years. And
they showed him everything which is on earth and in the heavens, the
dominion of the sun. And he wrote everything,
Jubilees
4:22 And bore witness to the Watchers, the ones who sinned with
the daughters of men because they began to mingle themselves with the
daughters of men so that they might be polluted. And Enoch bore
witness against them all.
It is clear from all these sources just quoted what was
happening here. Some of the angels, or Watchers, whom God sent to
help the men that He had placed on the Earth were instead mating with
their females. Of course only the females that sprang from Adam
are addressed here in Genesis. It is not known if they mated with
the daughters of other men elsewhere on the Earth. The daughters
of Adam were targeted specifically by some of the angels because it was
from Adam that the Messiah was to come. Lucifer, and those who
follow him, have tried multiple times to pollute the DNA, or seedline,
of Adam in an effort to thwart that plan of God.
Gen.
6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with
man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and
twenty years.
Again, the word man here should
be translated Adam
for the same reason
as given for verse 1. That means that the subject here is the
specific man Adam, not mankind in general. According to Appendix
24 in The
Companion Bible this statement was made concerning him when he
was 810 years of age. Adam died 120 years later when he was 930
years old.
This verse was put here for a reason and to tell us something, but
what? Perhaps it was at the height of the crossbreeding between
the angels and the daughters of Adam. Or maybe it was about the
time that the Adamites generally accepted such practices as normal and
acceptable. But then again it may be the time when the rebellious
angels were apprehended and incarcerated. Even so, the dirty deed
was done and the Adamic race was reeking with the DNA of the fallen
angels.
When God made this pronouncement concerning Adam living another 120
years, Enoch was about 188 years old and was vigorously fighting
against those who were crossbreeding and doing other vile things
against God's wishes. He, and presumably his family, were removed
from the general Adamic population 177 years later, or about 57 years
after Adam had died. That means that about a thousand years, or
one God day, had expired when Enoch was taken, and notice that Adam did
not live for a full thousand years, or one God day. Remember what
God told him about partaking of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil. "In that day you shall
surely die." Adam
truly did die within that day because he didn't make the full thousand
years.
Gen.
6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after
that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they
bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old,
men of renown.
The word giants here is
translated from the Hebrew word nephil (Strong's
No. 5303), the plural of which is the title of this lesson on chapter
6
nephilim.
This verse clearly indicates that the fallen angels were mating with
the daughters of Adam, which produced children who were larger and more
powerful than mere humans. These bastard offspring lived and died
like degenerate, aggressive, and dominant humans, and those who were
alive when the flood came were destroyed along with those Adamites who
had mixed genes also.
It is very likely that they still roam the Earth today as miserable
rebellious unclean spirits afflicting mankind. Jesus and the
apostles went about casting them out of weak-minded people whom they
had possessed. It is probably they and the ones who died in the
flood that the celebration of Halloween commemorates. The nephilim are
blivits who were never supposed to be, and they have no
resurrection. They will cease to exist at the time appointed.
Pay close attention to the second clause of this verse and also after that
because it implies that there were giants on the Earth sometime
later. That essentially means after the Noachian deluge because
that event is imminent here. It also means that there was one or
more later irruptions, or influxes, of ungodly angels among the
descendants of Adam.
Gen.
6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the
earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only
evil continually.
The Adamic people were
utterly corrupted by these rebellious angels.
Gen.
6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth,
and it grieved him at his heart.
It is ironic that the first time
that repentance
is mentioned in the Bible we find that it is God who is doing it.
Gen.
6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created
from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping
thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made
them.
What a sad state of affairs for the
descendants of Adam. They had been targeted by some rogue angels
in the days of Jared and they had succeeded in their attack. The
Adamic people were now corrupted beyond belief, both physically and
mentally (spiritually, if you wish) and they had to be dealt with in
the most profound way possible. Annihilation of the corrupt
ones! That meant all of those who still dwelt in the Tarim Basin
in central Asia, except one man and his family who were descendants of
Adam through Enoch.
Something needs to be clarified at this time concerning the
angels. It is evident that God sent angels to mankind to help
them along and to teach them how to prosper. He probably sent
them not only to the Adamic people but to all men wherever they were
upon the face of the Earth, and possibly at different times. Some
of them evidently became dissidents and corrupted those whom they were
sent to help. That is essentially what happened here to the
Adamic people.
Gen.
6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Grace?
What is grace? It has many definitions depending on how it is
used but in this case let's just say that it is synonymous with mercy. Why
did he find grace? The next verse tells why.
Gen.
6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and
perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
He was just (or, righteous) and perfect in his
generations. That is, he was perfect in his genealogy, or
his Adamic DNA, and so were his wife and children. Notice also
that he walked
with God just as his antecedent Enoch had done. He was
very special to God.
Gen.
6:10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Gen.
6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was
filled with violence.
The word translated earth here is
the Hebrew 'erets
(Strong's No. 776) and in this case means the land.
It is not talking about the entire Earth but to the specific area where
the Adamic people lived. Carefully consider the following
definitions of the word 'erets from my Logos 2 Strong's Hebrew

Lexicon, (Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.) 1995.
Look at the words of verse 11 again. Are we now like they were
then? It seems to describe our time now to a tee, doesn't it?
Gen.
6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt;
for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Again, let's keep this within the
context of the Adamic people in the Tarim Basin. We don't
really know what the condition of the other races of people on the
Earth were at that time.
Gen.
6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before
me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I
will destroy them with the earth.
The people living within the
affected area were doomed, and not only that, but the land that
they lived on had to be cleansed. The fauna and flora would be
destroyed as well. There is no telling how much hybridizing had
taken place over the past 1,100 years or so. The rebellious
angels came in the time of Jared, or somewhere around 500 years after
Adam was created, and the flood occurred about 1,656 years after Adam's
creation,
so there was over a millenium to completely corrupt everything.
Evidently the people did just that, probably in ignorance and greed
just as today.
Gen. 6:14 Make
thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make
in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Gen.
6:15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of:
The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it
fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
The
measurements are not known to an absolute certainty, because they
would depend on which cubit Noah used. There are several cubits
in the Bible of varying lengths from 18 inches to 25 inches. That
means that the vessel was 450 to 600 feet in length, 75 to 100 feet
wide, and 45 to 60 feet high. That would make it a very large
boat, or should I say barge.
Gen. 6:16 A
window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit
shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in
the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make
it.
Gen.
6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the
earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under
heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
The word earth here
should read land.
Gen.
6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt
come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’
wives with thee.
All of these possessed pure Adamic
DNA and were therefore allowed to continue. Noah was a descendant
of Enoch, and it seems to me that is the reason He removed Enoch from
among the Adamites when He did, to maintain purity.
Gen.
6:19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort
shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall
be male and female.
Now, for all of you diehards who
still believe in a worldwide flood during the time of Noah, this verse
can still explain all the different races in the world today. It says two of every
sort, male and female, of all flesh. Actually, I don't
believe that is a proper explanation of the verse, nevertheless, it can
still be construed that way.
Gen.
6:20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind,
of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort
shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
Gen.
6:21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou
shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for
them.
Think
about the ark and form a mental picture of what you have been taught
about it in Sunday School. Your mind will generally conjure up
animals
standing on the ark, or going up a gangplank two-by-two. There
will be
elephants, and giraffes, and ostriches, and sheep, and goats, and so
forth. Right? Well, the sheep and goats might be correct,
but not the
elephants and giraffes and ostriches.
Remember the animals brought to Adam in chapter 2 for him to name after
God created them to be a help to him? They were the domestic
animals
that Adam would use in his work in the Garden of Eden, and in his daily
life in general. That is also what Noah took aboard the ark with
him.
Those animals and plants that he would need to get a fresh start after
the flood subsided. There were also enough of the clean animals
(see Gen. 7:2),
vegetables, and grains for them and the animals to eat while they were
isolated in the ark. They would need a lot of provisions because
the
flood lasted for over a year.
In other words, forget about the elephants, giraffes, and
ostriches, because there were no wild animals aboard the ark, only
domestic ones.
Gen. 6:22 Thus did Noah;
according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
Next
lesson continues what happened during the flood. Don't miss it.
God bless with
understanding
of His word.
